MANNAHATTA SERIES - Available Works
Purchase original one-of-a-kind artworks from my MANNAHATTA series featuring hand quilted works on cotton. Mannahatta was the original native American name for the island of Manhattan. The images are derived from architectural structures built during different periods in the history of the island and which can all be seen simultaneously in the co-existence of past and present. The quilting design of overlapping concentric circles is symbolic of the ephemeral nature of our existence on this landscape….we are here for a while and then gone, while the structures remain.
NOTE: In addition to the triptychs which are comprised of three panels hung side by side, consider grouping two single works to form diptychs….for instance. subway 1 and 2 or scaffolding 1 and 2, or lafayette street and mercer street..
A full color book featuring this series, with a forward by Ulysses Grant Dietz, Chief Curator Emeritus of the Newark Museum, is available at amazon.com
